How to Get Cloth in Solarpunk (Fastest Methods)
Cloth is used for sails, beds, bandages, and the airship. Most players get stuck farming it by hand. This guide shows you 3 methods ranked by speed, plus a one-time setup that makes cloth essentially free for the rest of the save.

Method 1 — Cotton Farm (Best Long-Term)
Cotton grows in 30 minutes and yields 3 cloth per plant. A 6×6 farm with 4 sprinklers produces 18 cloth per cycle — enough for any solo or co-op base.
- Till a 6×6 plot of soil.
- Place 4 sprinklers in a square inside the plot.
- Plant cotton in the outer ring (32 plants).
- Wait 30 minutes for the first harvest.
- Set up a harvester drone to auto-collect.
Method 2 — Fiber Plant Loop (Best Early Game)
Fiber plants grow in 2 minutes and yield 3 fiber. 4 fiber = 1 cloth at the workshop. The trick: the starter island respawns all fiber plants every 2 in-game days.
- Strip every fiber plant on the starter island (about 40 plants, 120 fiber).
- Convert 120 fiber → 30 cloth at the workshop.
- Sleep 2 nights. Fiber respawns.
- Repeat. Average yield: 30 cloth per 2 days = 15 cloth/day.
Method 3 — The Trader Trick (Best One-Time)
- Save 200 coins.
- Visit the Verdant Spire trader.
- Buy 20 Cloth Bundles (10 coins each, 5 cloth per bundle).
- Total: 100 cloth in 5 minutes. One-week cooldown before restock.
Cloth Use Priority
| Item | Cloth Cost | Priority |
|---|---|---|
| Bed (per player) | 6 | 1 (immediate, game-breaking if you skip) |
| Bandage Stack (5) | 4 | 2 |
| Sail Cloth | 10 | 3 (for the airship) |
| Trader Gift | 2 | 4 (reputation farming) |
How Much Cloth Do You Need?
A solo save needs ~60 cloth for a full base. A 4-player co-op save needs ~150 cloth. Method 1 produces more than enough in a week; Methods 2 and 3 cover the early game.
